Morning Walk with Dr. Jim Duke, Author of The Green Pharmacy

What a special and lovely morning on Saturday, July 25th . I had no idea of what I was in for. Many thanks to Prue Ronneberg for hosting and organizing this event. Dr. Duke's garden and grounds were awesome. The Abundant Healthy Living group was taken on a fascinating and beautiful tour where we learned many new things about the healing benefits of a wide variety herbs in a beautiful wooded nature setting on Dr. Duke's breathtaking grounds. Dr. Duke shared his incredible knowledge and answered our questions with humor and detail. I took many notes, too many to repeat here. Dr. Duke's Green Pharmacy book is an herbal encyclopedia and should definitely be used for reference. So glad I got my copy. During the walk, Dr. Duke spoke of herbs for menopause, post menopause -- like Primrose & Don Quoi, cinnamon for diabetes prevention, lemon balm for shingles, St. John's Wort for panic attacks, walnut oil for depression, ginseng for vitality & youthfulness. It was great to smell the aromas of various herbs. If requested via e-mail. Dr. Duke said that he would send the recipie for that curried celery soup with lots of Old Bay seasoning he mentioned (celery seed prevents gout amongst other benefits, Old Bay seasoning has numerous health benefits) I remember he also spoke highly of the health benefits of rosemary tea. Dr. Duke's website is www.greenpharmacy.com There are so many herbal remedies & benefits that it is mind boggling. Just read and keep your Green Pharmacy book handy. At the end of the tour Dr. Duke even serenaded us with folk songs he wrote about herbs. It was truly an honor and a joy to be in this man's presence. Saturday was a great opportunity to also meet the wonderful people behind the voices of our Monday night conference call. The brunch at Prue's house was delicious and delightful after Dr. Duke's herbal tour and information sharing session. I left Saturday's event feeling enlightened, inspired and invigorated. I feel so blessed and fortunate to be part of the Abundant Healthy Living group. Thanks to everyone for making my day! -
