This principle is not complicated, it is about not stopping yourself from accomplishing a little bit just because you don't have the time, energy, money, whatever to do it all.
- Can't walk five miles, fine, walk to the mail box.
- Can't be perfect with your fuel selections for an entire day, how about one meal or two?
- Can't make all of the calls on your list, sit down for 15 minutes and do a few.
You get it, it's simple, simple, simple but IT WORKS!! All of your smaller efforts add up and ... anything is better than nothing!!
ABUNDANT HEALTHY ACTIONS
Pick something where you could take some action, right now. Blog about it.
Pick a day this week to challenge yourself to make short bursts of progress in as many areas as you can.

What is area that you are best in making little steps towards that greater goal?
What is the one thing that you always push off because you can't tackle the entire expectation/goal?

Yes, thank you San for the reminder. I would like to share i have been doing bikram yoga everyday for last 36 days and not thinking consciously about "anything is better than nothing" in mind. Because lately, I am thinking doing Yoga everyday is great but i need more to lose or tone my body. So,i am going to take this tool add some cardio and weights 2 times each this week. It would be interesting because i am going out of town and no weight room. Anyhow,I have to be creative.:) What i do know is that being balance is important for my being and i will take some time to plan for myself. I do need some help and reminder to take some time for myself because it seems i am always rushing. Again,Thank you San for the reminder!!
ReplyDeleteI use this principle quite a bit. For example, this heat has made it difficult to want to go for lone walks with my pooch. But getting out is important to both of us. So we cut our one long walk into two shorter ones in order to better manage the heat.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny but this principle also applies in reverse - meaning that it can help with managing those inevitable cravings. If I am craving chocolate and a piece of pie or cake sounds like the ticket, I can remind myself that anything is better than nothing a have a couple of dark chocolate kisses. They cut the craving, are much lower in calories AND dark chocolate is a super food to boot!
Love, Tee
This principle works great for my walking goals. I recently was able to get in my walk 8 days in a row - Monday was my first miss. Most days were outside and EARLY morning due to the heat. Yet, even on the hottest day, I was out with my bottle of water and walked about a 1/2 hour instead of my usual hour. This principle of Anything is Better Than Nothing allows me to feel great about what I do each day even if my 'best' is different each day.
ReplyDeleteI have made my lots of little actions add up this week. Hope that you have too!
ReplyDeleteYonghee - I just found through attending several beginner classes and reading more that Yoga is something I want and need for additional centering and balancing in my life. My challenge is to find a way to incorporate yoga with the strength and cardio into a schedule that works. You are right - being balanced and centered is so important for many reasons. This will help me a great deal. I'm wishing us both luck as we seek to benefit from this mix of activities, using the Anything is Better Than Nothing principle when necessary.
